Schedule Change Huskerland Duals
Grades 3-5 Duals and Grades 6-8 Duals will be held on Sunday March 9th, 2014. This is due to a scheduling mishap. We hope this does not cause any problems to you our customers and valued partners in the wrestling community. We are hoping that we see every one of you this year. We understand that some may not be able to attend due to changes. We will try to work through the scheduling problems to insure we have the best quality event as possible. New Weight Classes for Huskerland Duals
Weight classes are being modified to match weights being used AAU State Folkstyle but not all of the weights AAU State Folkstyle will be used. These new weight classes should eliminate problem with wrestlers competing in both Huskerland Duals and AAU State Tournaments. Only the top weight class in each division is not an AAU State Folkstyle weight class. We are going from 11 to 13 weight classes in Grades 3-5 and from 12 to 13 weight classes in Grades 6-8. We feel that despite adding more weight classes that it should be easier than in the past to fill out a team. The weights classes have been adjusted where there are more wrestlers. Note that the top weight class was lowered in both divisions. Only 9 of the 17 teams entered a wrestler at 145 in Grades 3-5 at the duals. At Huskerland State in Grades 7-8 there was only one wrestler over 213 pounds and he was just 216. Note that having an odd number of weight classes is helpful in breaking ties in dual points. Barring from having a double forfeit in the dual for the tie-breakers will not need go further than most wins on the criteria chart.
New Weight Classes for Huskerland Duals:
Grades 3-5 (13 Weight Classes): 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 108, 116, & 135.
Grades 6-8 (13 Weight Classes): 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 115, 125, 135, 152, 171, & 210.

One Team: $225 ($17 per wt. class)
Both Teams: $400 ($13 per wt. class)
Youth Athlete AAU Card: $14 or $16

Other Changes for Huskerland Duals:
Format: Clubs will be put in 3, 4 or 5 team pools. Most pools will be 4 team pools. Pool winners will be placed in Class A, pool runner-ups will be placed in Class B, and the rest will be placed in Class C or Class D. All teams will wrestle at least five duals but not more than six. No repeat duals. Plaques will be awarded to the top 2 teams in each class.
- Teams need to be a 2014 registered Huskerland Club to enter a dual team.
- Club Dues are $40. You can register your club on-line.
- Wrestlers need to have AAU Card.
Weigh-ins: 3rd-5th grade teams will weigh-in from 6:30 until 7:30 all wrestlers on that team must weigh-in a one time (Whole team weigh-ins only.) No individual weigh-ins. Wrestlers are not be allowed to work off weight at the site. It is really tough for small young kids to drop weight. Coaches should select team to let kids participate in the duals at their natural weight. Weigh-ins for Huskerland Duals will be honored for AAU State if wrestler is pre-registered. 6th thru 8th grade wrestlers wrestling in AAU State Folkstyle will be honored on duals team if preregistered on team roster. (No same day add ons.) If wrestlers are not wrestling in AAU State tournament prior to duals, they will be required to weigh-in from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 as a complete team (No individuals can weigh-in).
More Teams in the Duals: With the Kearney venue the sky is the limit with the number of teams that we can handle. Spread the word that this is a very special event. Wrestlers, parents, and coaches of past teams will all vouch that this an exciting event and offers many teachable moments for these young wrestlers. Making weight, going for the fall, not getting pinned, cheering for teammates, and being put in the spotlight just to mention a few. Most of all this is a fun event and a great change of pace from the small club events being held.
